Mental illness
Mental illness is today the most common cause of sick leave in Sweden. The OECD has calculated a societal cost of EUR 8 billion annually in Sweden. In addition to human suffering, it is also extremely costly to society.
Being constantly connected, always full of experiences, sleeping too little, being very social and feeling demands on all this can mean that the brain does not have enough time for recovery. We know that we can not expose the body to hard work for long periods of time without getting wear and tear – it seems to be the same with the brain.
In this research project we will monitor brain waves during mental illness.
